White Supremacists Rail Against Disney's Black Princess

LOS ANGELES (CAP) - Shortly after being unveiled at Disney's annual shareholder's meeting in New Orleans, the company's first black princess is already learning that, to paraphrase a famous frog, it ain't easy being first.

"It took 84 years to realize Princess Maddy. I expect it may take a few weeks more to work out all the kinks," said Greg Provist, Disney's Vice President in charge of franchise development. "Compared to the suicide bombings we had to contend with when we created Jasmine without a burqa, this is nothing."

While no one has yet launched a Jihad against the House of Mouse over its depiction of the black princess in its up-coming The Frog Princess, many groups nonetheless are crying foul. Organizations such as K.K. Kanime (a multimedia branch of the Ku Klux Klan) and the White Panthers are vowing to boycott Disney unless it agrees to give equal time to a white Mickey Mouse they have designed and are calling "Master Mouse."

The Jewish Defense League, never a fan of Walt Disney based on his early links to Nazism, are up-in-arms over shutting out the iconic Jewish American Princess in favor of yet another "representative of a fringe minority group." The African-American community is largely withholding judgment at this point.

"I'm waiting to see how much junk they draw in her trunk before I give my blessing," said Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Merchandising problems are also hitting early, with critics claiming that Maddy dolls are being held to a lesser standard than those of past princesses. Disney claims that all these issues will be smoothed out well in advance of the movie's Kwanzaa 2009 launch date.
