Sheehan Arrested In Presidential PottyWASHINGTON (CAP) - Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan was arrested early yesterday after trying to unfurl a very small banner in the bathroom of the White House living quarters.
She was detained briefly by the Secret Service before being turned over to the CIA for an all-expenses-paid trip to Saudi Arabia.
The banner read "2,245 Dead. How many more?" - a reference to the current number of US soldiers who have died in the Iraqi conflict.
The slogan was similar to the one she wore on a t-shirt that got her arrested at the President’s State of the Union address. Earlier reports on that incident by several news organizations (CAP not being one of them) stated that she had unfurled a banner, which may have given her the idea.
"There was an incident around 7:30 AM involving Ms. Sheehan," said White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan. "Obviously she had someone who helped her get into the President’s private quarters, and we’re looking into that. The enemies of freedom are everywhere. We vow to get to the bottom of this."
A spokesperson for the Sheehan camp denied rumors that she was also carrying a similarly-sloganed deodorant can and a toothpaste tube that when squeezed squirted out a tiny flag reading, "Don’t Brush Off Our Boys!"
