DOWN SOUTH (CAP) - Typographical errors are to blame for the Southern Baptist Convention's recent vote to outlaw "day marriages."
"The printer messed up, but everyone who voted knew what they were voting on," said SBC spokesman Cletus Jones. "No homo marriage: that's what they were voting on."
Regardless, the vote is binding, and hundreds of Baptist weddings are being rescheduled to meet the edict's requirement that all weddings occur after sunset. Still, many Baptists remain upbeat and are trying to paint this as a plus.
"Have you see our women?" asked one potential Baptist groom who asked to remain anonymous. "Getting married in the dark isn't such a bad thing, necessarily."
A vote that could outlaw May marriages is scheduled for the SBC's next meeting.
